Needs Analysis Cards are a practical tool designed to help you identify your students language needs.

The set begins with 24 general questions for needs analysis. These can be used with any learner at the start of a course to explore their goals, challenges, and motivations.

They’re followed by individual cards that go deeper into specific skills or contexts, such as speaking, exams, or English for work.

The aim of the cards is to find out:

• what skills or areas are most important for the student
• how confident or experienced they feel in each area
• what specific challenges they face
• what kind of support or practice they would find most helpful
• what goals they have for the course
