Are discussion questions only to be discussed? Not necessarily! Have a look at our ideas on what else you can do with a list of discussion questions.
#1 Use them as warmers. Display or distribute a different discussion question at the beginning of each lesson and get the students to discuss it in pairs or small groups.
#2 Use the questions for a class debate. Divide the students into two groups with opposing opinions on the topic. Get them to come up with a list of arguments in favour of their opinion.
#3 Assign roles. Some students might not be happy to share their real opinions in the class. This activity works great for groups like that. Before the class prepare some roles, for example a 70-year-old widower, a mother of three small children, an unemployed teacher, etc. Assign a different role to each student. Now they have to discuss the questions using their new roles. So what opinion on this topic would a widower or a mother of three have?
#4 Go back in time. Display a discussion question and ask the students how they would answer this question if they were 10, 20 or 30 years younger (or older) :)
